Lake flies always appear during few days to the new moon and last days after the new moon, they move in big swams.
Where they come from is still a mystery, one version states that they come from down the Lake, but trying to use a phone flashlight during the first day of the new moon all that can be seen is Mayflies coming from water.
Lake flies are eaten in Buvuma Islands on Lake Victoria Uganda and they are caught using white and lamp light at night.
After collecting enough at the moon set they are prepared and kept in banana fibers to be used to be used as sauce until the new moon.
The good seasons are in April and November during the rainy season.
