7 Days Lake Mburo, Bwindi Gorillas, and Volcanoes National Park Safari is a breathtaking adventure that will start in Kampala Uganda, and end in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will give you an opportunity to explore Lake Mburo national park which offers great views of animals like elands, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, impala, warthogs among others. From the savannah national park you will connect to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will have a face to face encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in their environment. During the 7 day Lake Mburo, Bwindi gorillas and Volcanoes national park safari you will also visit Volcanoes national park in Rwanda where you will participate in cultural tour to interact with the local people, gorilla trekking where you will be able to spend time with the mountain gorillas and Kigali city tour.

Itinerary

Day 1ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

On arrival at the Entebbe International Park, you will be picked by a representative from a Divine African Holidays. After a short briefing, you will start the journey to Lake Mburo national park in western Uganda. You will have a stopover at the Uganda Equator. While here you will be able to stand in both the Northern and Southern hemisphere at the same time, buy souvenirs, take pictures and then continue the journey to the park. You will arrive in time for lunch and later relax at the Lodge

Day 2MORNING GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE

A Morning game drive will give you beautiful views of the sunrise; get an opportunity to view a variety of wildlife. You may spot animals like bushbucks, elands, impalas, topi, zebras, among others grazing in the open savannah plains. You will also watch a lot of bird species. Later return to your lodge for lunch.
An afternoon boat ride on the Lake Mburo will give you an opportunity to view hippos and crocodiles in water, aquatic birds like the cormorants, pelicans, herons, kingfishers, fish eagles among others. The scenic beauty is breathtaking. You will also view fishermen go about their daily business

Day 3LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

You head south west to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have lunch in Kabale and then continue the journey to the park with stunning views of Kigezi hills, homesteads, local people, and beautiful scenery among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge and relax.

Day 4GORILLA TRACKING

Have an early morning breakfast, and after proceed to the park headquarters to have a briefing about the dos and don’ts about Gorilla trekking. The rangers will then accompany you to the rainforest to start your search for the gentle giants. This walk can sometimes be tough but when you encounter the gentle giants it will be a memorable and a rewarding experience.
Trekkers are always advised to carry their rain coats and boots because the weather there is always unpredictable. There are also some potters who always help with the carrying of the luggage on behalf of the visitors but at a small cost. On sighting the gorillas, the rangers will guide you on how to handle them, especially by giving them a 6 meter distance as you enjoy them play around. It’s always not easy to predict how long gorilla tracking will take and this also depends on the location of some families since some of them are far from the park headquarters.
However, it always takes 2 to 8 hours to come into contact with them and the rangers will always be there to guide you. Trackers are also advisable to be physically fit before going for tracking. After your trek, return to the lodge for your lunch and in the afternoon, you may opt to visit the Batwa community to enjoy some cultural performances before retiring at your lodge.

Day 5BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK - VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Transfer to volcanoes national park which is located in north western part of Rwanda. It is the most visited and sought after destination in Rwanda. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours’ drive passing via Cyanika border in Kisoro district and on the way you will have views of the rolling hills, scenery, local people among others arriving in time for lunch.
After lunch you will go for a cultural tour in the communities around the park. During the cultural tour you will visit the Ibyi’wacu cultural village where you will be able to interact with the local people, know about their culture, tradition, visit their farmlands, learn how to make beer from bananas, taste their local dishes, listen to ancient stories, enjoy traditional entertainments, and visit the Kings palace among others. Later return to your lodge.

Day 6HIKE TO THE DIAN FOSSEY GRAVE AND GOLDEN MONKEYS

After breakfast, you gather for briefing by the rangers who will later lead you to the starting point which is at the foot of Mount Bisoke. The hike rewards visitors with amazing views of the Volcanoes national Park and the wider Virunga ranges extending all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During the hike tourists get to know a lot about Gorilla conservation and work of Dian Fossey. Her work of conservation is probably the reason the gorillas are not extinct. Visiting her tomb and her former Kariosoke Research Centre is a great way of paying homage.
The hike gives you an opportunity to encounter creatures like Golden monkey, giant forest Hogs variety of bird life.

Day 7VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK - KIGALI

Transfer to Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. On arrival you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. The Kigali Genocide Memorial commemorates the 1994 Rwanda Genocide. It is the resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. There is a visitor Centre of those who wish to understand what lead to the Genocide. Time allowing you will visit the craft markets and the convention Centre.

You will later be dropped at the airport in time to catch your flight back home
